Walt King observes that the figures in the video above are wrong and that current UK trains run up to 125 mph. Fastest train London to Birmingham takes 76 minutes.Our trains in China are running at 350 kph, that’s about 220 mph. So if the high speed train travelled at that speed all the way, which it won’t, it would take 43 minutes.So it’s saving perhaps half an hour at most. And no doubt the fares will be astronomical so few will choose it. High speed trains make sense only over long distances.
