Thanks again, Godfrey, as a long term permanent resident, what you report in no real way contradicts my own information although I have to admit, I do live in Beijing and get most of what I know about the rest of China through my own research mostly relying on English language sources as my reading ability in Hanzi is limited. I speak the language decently enough, but my formal education in Chinese characters is embarrassingly sparse and entirely self taught in those few minutes when I pick up both a book and a dictionary and usually fall asleep within the next thirty minutes. That's due mostly to my having to work for a living and other interests. Again, thanks and all the best, I do wish more Americans would read articles like these.
