I remember that. I was in high school at the time, and remember my mom asking my pediatrician if he thought the swine flu shot--they didn't call it a vaccine as I recall--was a good idea.

He said it was silly, that they'd never come up with a real vaccine for either influenza or the common cold because both of those antigens mutate so rapidly, and since we'd all had influenza of one variety or the other we had some natural immunity anyway.

I didn't get the shot. I didn't get sick, either. Not that time. The Russian Flu, or bird flu as they call it now, zapped me four years later, which means I haven't had to worry about bird flu since.

How interesting that a regular MD could spot the lie so readily!

Each of these campaigns has been about money, not health.
